Alhamdullilah , a private family managed Community Centre

Built and managed  by Brother Murtaza Hassanali Alibhai Walji, family and  friends. Although primarily dedicated to ALIBHAI WALJI BHANJI FAMILY we include and welcome  numerous well wishers and friends (Thank you )  for Kul Marhumeen

Location

From Mombasa, head south, cross using the Likoni Ferry, and  take A14 towards Samburu. Head towards Kwale Town on the C106 towards Shimba Hills. It is located north of Shimba Hills near Burani Primary School and Mwaluphamba Secondary school.


Residence

The centre is surrounded by villagers living nearby primarily belonging to the Mjikenda Coastal group, comprising mainly of the Digo and Duruma tribes


Size

Approximately two acres surrounded by a wire fence.


Attendance

Nearly 300 members with over 130 children attend regularly.

Some functions are also attended by nearby villagers and at times over 500 persons attend bigger functions

Power Supply

No electricity is supplied to this village

Three sets of Solar panels with controllers and batteries have been installed with solar lights

The Mosque audio speakers  and water pump are powered by Solar energy


Water Supply

  • Recently a government water source piped supply was established but it is not steady and reliable
  • A series of pipes are connected to the four building roofs and the rain water is channelled into our water storage tanks
  • We have two large 10000 litre water tanks erected on a strong large water tower with a solar pump
  • All pipes and taps into the mosque, kitchen are done and there is a public tap free for the villagers.
  • An additional 5,000 litre tank has been installed near the offices .
  • A Borehole survey has been done and we plan to make a borehole well shortly


Our Beginning

The Mosque was built in 2020 to replace a very old broken mosque structure initiated by brother Murtaza Hassanali Walji of Mombasa (Now in Peterborough England) The other buildings have been added year after year, from 2020 until 2023 and work on various projects is still ongoing


Costs

The total cost of the centre from 2020 to 2023 is £56,000 alhamdullilah all paid , that includes the chicken farm, madrassah, office, kitchens and water tanks


Daily Activities

  • Prayers
  • Duas recited every Tuesday and Thursday evening (with Tabaruk)
  • Madrassah
  • Saturday and Sunday Madressah food for children (Mahambri and Tea)
  • Lectures and childrens activities
  • Library
  • Ladies Sewing Centre (still not ready)
  • Sports (We have a football ground inside the centre which is very popular with the boys)
  • Planting of Fruit Trees, and growing of Cash crops
  • Chicken Farming
  • Lectures and Training

Seasonal Activities

  • Iftaris during Ramadhan
  • Majalis for ten days of Muharam with Nyaz food



Administration

There are four salaried teachers

  • Head Teacher / Administrator (Ustadh Mazera)
  • Teacher/ Assistant Administrator  (Ustadh Bakari)
  • Teaching Assistants - Ustadha Mwanasiti and Ustadh Hassan
  • A paid Watchman / Night caretaker


The Village elders elected a Commitee (Kamati) from amongst themselves with a Chairman

Other volunteers help with activities and events


Cost of Food, Niyaz  and Gifts

Over 130 children attend. With them their  Parents and guardians number up to 300 persons

If nearby villagers are invited the numbers can increase to 500


We welcome gifts of food meals for the children and adults. Please chose from any of the below:-


  •  - Sweets for the Children                  £10 (Kshs 1500/= normally on Wiladah/Khushali/Eid)
  •  - Tea and Bread                                 £10 (Kshs 1500/= normally on Tuesday and Thursdays after prayers)
  •  - Cakes/Biscuits                                  £20 (Kshs 3000/=On any occassion)
  •  - Soft Drinks for kids                                   £20 (Kshs 3000/- Juice cartons x 130 )
  •  - Soda for all adults                                  £40 (Kshs 6000/= Sodas x 200) 
  •  - Goat        x1                                        £30  (Kshs 4500/= includes cutting/cleaning)
  •  - Chicken  x 5                                      £30 (Kshs 4500/= includes cutting/cleaning)
  • - Meal of Rice and Beans                  £35  (Kshs 5,300/= For Jumah Prayers inc cooking, feeds over 120 persons)
  • -  Mahambri & Tea                              £40 (Kshs 6000/= Every Saturday & Sunday for ALL 130 Madrassah Kids)
  •  - Meal of Rice and Beans                  £75  (Kshs 11,000/= inc cooking, feeds over 200 persons)
  •  - Meals of Rice, Beans and a goat £100 (Kshs 15,000/= inc cooking, feeds over 250 persons)
  •  - Goat Pilau                                        £ 110 (Kshs 16,500/= includes cooking, spices, feeds 300 persons)

 

The children do prayers/duas and a  video will be sent privately to whoever donates if required

You can sponsor a Iftari in Ramadhan / Muharam Majlis meal /Friday Jumah salah meal or thursday evening majlis Ahsant!


Fund Management

The centre is basically a private centre and no dedicated fund rising is made on any platform

Friends, family relatives and well wishers may donate specific meals functions and requests for duas

A video and pictures will be sent privately mostly on Whatsapp as per individual requests


Funds are paid into a dedicated Mpesa Telephone online bank account in Kenya  Number  00 254 729 568359 in the name of Mr M H Walji

This can be credited from any western bank account using either World Remit, Transfer Wise, or Remitly

or payments can be arranged via a UK bank account in the name of Mr M Walji which is Sort Code 54-21-38 and acc no 97274461
